TABASCO SAUCE

So...due to the kids and their new found back talking we have come up with a solution. Tabasco sauce. We tell them "Whenever something bad comes out of our mouth, something bad has to go in our mouth." That goes for bad words and back talk and not saying nice things to others. Needless to say it has worked amazingly. I think each has only had it in their mouth once, maybe twice.

The other day we were with my Mom and she let the "F" bomb slip as she was holding Payton. I gasped "MOM" and tapped her mouth saying "BAD CHOICE". To which Payton had to add "JuJu, you get Tabasco Sauce." So I proceeded to put some hot sauce on my mom's tongue. After a few seconds she was squealing in pain and couldn't seem to get enough water to put out the burn. At least a lesson has been learned. HAHAHA. The things kids will say.

SPRING!!!

So yes I am a slacker once again. Sorry.

The kids are almost done with preschool for the year and Brody is all signed up for Kindergarten in the Fall. SOB. I am not ready for him to leave me to grow up. He is so smart and tells me that it is ok he will come back home to play with me. I am hoping he keeps this same train of thought as he grows up and truly leaves home. Payton is excited to not have school at all. She just wants to play and hang out with mom.

Both kids have started tumbling classes and love it. They have no fear I swear. Their teachers say that it takes most kids months to do some of the things that just come natural to Brody and Payton. They have great balance and do so well on the balance beam. Both love doing flips on the bars and don't mind dropping off of the high bar. I guess letting them jump out of the tree out front really does serve some purpose besides giving Grandma a heart attack. We are so proud of them.

Curtis and I are both working, working, working. Things are going good, maybe it's because we never see each other. Haha. Our 6 year Anniversary is this weekend and we both managed to forget that it was even coming up. Whoops. At least it was both of us that forgot, being so busy all the time really sucks. Anyone know of work from home or that pays decent part-time let me know please. Working nights is really taking its toll.

Hopefully soon I will have some pictures of the kids to post, they are getting so big I need to not forget to capture each wonderful stage of their childhood. Maybe I'll get some shots of tumbling. We'll see.

SPRING!!!!

SUCK, my camera is still broken!!!

Anyhoo. We took the kids snowboarding yesterday and oh what a beautiful day. Mom set up the grill in the parking lot and we had a fabulous end of the season BBQ. Ribs, hamburger, sausages, 7-layer dip, brownies and plenty of other stuff to slather on my hip and thighs but oh so good.

So proud of my kids...went up the lift and boarded the whole way down. A mother's patience is truly tried when teaching your kids something new. Brody was first and demanded that he was going to jump the rails. If I tried to steer him another way he would just sit down and become limp till we headed back towards the jumps. GGRRRRR. Thank you Rob for catching up at just the right moment. Uncle Rob swoops in and saves the day. Brody was willing to do anything Uncle Rob did since Uncle Rob can snowboard "so good".
Payton then insisted that she wanted to go up the lift. By now I was very hesitant but figured I could always carry her down if needed. She was EXCELLENT. She raced down the hill faster than I thought she would be able to handle but did it with a big grin on her face and some squeals along the way. I am so proud of her.

What a beautiful day, we got some much needed sun, relaxation and family time. We went to Mom's house and watched a movie (although everyone but Curtis and I fell asleep). Just as we were getting ready to go one of Mom's dogs bit Payton on the arm. Payton is such a trooper, she cried a little and then just kept saying that Kosmo made a "bad choice" and that he needed a time out. Took her to the Instacare and it is infected but she insists on not crying. The only thing that made her cry was the anticipation of what the Dr was going to do. She is so brave. It's amazing how resilient kids are and how simple they think of things.

CRAZY!!!

I know, I know....I am such a slacker.  Things have been beyond hectic I'm not sure where to start.

The kids broke our camera so we are missing a lot of amazing photo ops.  They were playing with the camera and dropped it with the lens out and then decided to hide the camera so Mom wouldn't notice.  It's been at the shop for 5 weeks now and not sure when we will get it back but if they can't fix it then we get a new one.  Let's just hope for the new one so we can have our camera soon.

Curtis and I have been working like crazy.  We don't see each other pretty much at all 4-5 days out of the week.  I leave for work before he gets home and I crawl into bed as he is getting up for work.  So, needless to say we are missing each other terribly.

The kids are having a hard time with me working so much and Spring Fever is definetely making it worse.  They are tearing up the house and fighting like crazy.  Kids will be kids but Mom is losing her sanity.

We are all ready for the warm weather and some fun outdoors.  The other day we woke up to another snow storm and Brody started crying "Mom, I want the snow to be done.  Can't you make it stop?"  Poor kids.

Curtis and I are now on Facebook, so you can email or Wall-to-Wall us.  We sure would like to catch up with everyone.  LOVE YA

SNOOPY

Our poor Snoopy passed away last week. He was 14 years old and we knew that he might not make it through this winter but, nonetheless, it has not been an easy loss. He was a part of the family in every way possible. We swear that dog could talk.
Explaining death to the kids has been a little challenging. They wanted to go see him but that was something that I didn't want them to see, it was hard enough for me. Brody was crying, saying he didn't get to say goodbye. They couldn't quite understand the concept of Heaven, but we told them that Snoopy was going fishing with Grandpa Sippy and that seemed to make them feel a little better. Mom had Snoopy cremated so we told the kids we could have a going away party in the Spring so they could say their goodbyes.
Thoughtful kids that they are, they wanted to cheer JuJu up. They knew that she was sad and crying so they insisted that we make her happy. Flowers, Dinner, and Cookies were on the list of supplies. It definetely gave her some cheer, that and a session of dancing convinced them that their job had been accomplished. I'm glad that our kids are compassionate enough to not just think of their feelings but to think of others and what they can do to make things better.
We loved Snoopy dearly but know that he is in a good place and is happily running free with Grandpa.

LITTLE SHREDDERS

So, we decided that the kids are ready to try snowboarding. In the last couple of years we bought 3 different size boards for Brody to grow into. NOW is the time. We got some lessons for the kids with a friend of ours and they took to the hill quite naturally.
Here is Payton all bundled up to go. She insisted that she wanted to snowboard too. How dare her brother do something without her. She is so stinkin cute all bundled up.
Brody was hammin' it up. He was so proud of himself that he didn't fall at all. After a few runs on the kiddie side he kept insisting that he wanted to go faster. So, what does a mother do? You give the kid what he wants. And so.....HE ROCKED. Watch the video at the bottom. I LOVE IT.Payton did so well. She wasn't as excited as Brody was once she got all strapped in. But she did take a few runs WITHOUT FALLING ONCE!!! Everyone kept commenting how cute she was and couldn't believe a kid that little could be snowboarding. Apparently you usually don't start kids on boards, you start them on skis. But, anyone that knows our family knows that we BOARD NOT SKI. So these kids don't get options. She got pretty cold so she just wanted to stand and watch her brother race down the hill. She says she wants to board again "just not today Mom". I can handle that. Of course the day wouldn't be complete without the bus ride down the hill and a cute girl by your side. This girl is the one that took the kids pictures for their season passes and Brody decided that he liked her. He turned to Curtis and said "Dad, I don't want to sit by you. I'm sitting with her." So, he did. The whole ride down he was flirting with her and looking in her purse and telling her how good he is at snowboarding. OH MY. What a little ladies man. He even got a hug when we got off. We are in so much trouble.

Look how fast he is going. SO PROUD!!!!

He LOVES BOARDING, can you tell?

We have gone a couple of times since these pics and the kids cry if we go boarding without them. This last weekend we did take them again. Brody went up the lift and did a whole run with me and my mom. We were teaching him how to turn. He was doing so good that at one point we passed a beginner snowboarding class. He did head for the rails and laughed as his mother was screaming " STOP, STOP, STOP, SIT ON YOUR BUTT, TURN TO MOM, STOP, STOP!!!!" As he sits down he lets out a huge sigh.

B: Mom, but I can do it.

Me: Brody, we can't do that yet.

B: But Mom, I want to jump, I can do it.

Me: (Still having a heart attack) We need to wait till you know how to turn really good, is that a deal?

B: I guess, but Mom I can jump off that next time, ok?

Me: (Lauging) We will see.

B:(Grunts)

Oh, the fearlessnous of little boys. He did have a pretty good crash involving a cart wheel and to back flips, or front flips, depending on the angle you were watching. He cried for a minute then was ready to haul butt down the hill again. I love that my kids are so determined and willing to try just about anything. I can't wait till next year when it will be me trying to keep up with them on the hill.

"I'm a WHOLE HAND mom"

Oh the sweet sorrow and joy of my little boy getting a year older. Makes me sad to see him grow so fast yet so proud to be the mother of such an incredible boy.
He was very insistent on having an Indiana Jones swimming party. Of course what mother can tell her sweet child no. He was so ecstatic about the Indiana Jones cake. "Mom, its Iniana Jones" It's so cute how he says things and the joy little things bring to him.

Of course, what would a swimming party be without a flying Superman. Brody loves to be thrown, he would have us tossing him all day if we let him. So fearless, and he is so proud of himself that he can almost swim on his own, no floaties.

I'm not posting all the present pictures since it would take me forever and they all would be of random Indiana Jones paraphenilia. He did get the hat, whip, lego set, lots of Adventure Hero guys, and the new movie. Spoiled, you ask? My kids? NEVER!!! We have been promising the kids a playroom campout and have been looking for a little tent to set up in the basement for some winter fun. Without any hints Grandpa Ed picked the perfect gift, Transformer tent with a sleeping bad and flashlight. He was so excited that we finally get to "camp in". Thanks Grandpa, this little boys day was definetely made great by your thoughtfulness.

What would a birthday be without best friends. Brody loves Payton and tells everyone she is his best friend. Well, this summer he found another best friend in Mason, whom he tells everyone is his brother. They are practically inseperable. Brody is such a loving boy, I am so glad is easily accepts people into our family and loves them so much.

Every party needs to go out with a bang. Since fireworks were not allowed in the pool area Curtis decided to create a finale of his own. Kiddie slide+ Adult goofball= Great kid memories and lots of laughs.

Happy 5th Brody!

"FALL- ING"

So, every morning the kids come and crawl into bed with me and usually go back to sleep. I LOVE it, it gives me some extra zzz's and I get to cuddle with my little bugs. Brody had crawled into bed with me around 4am and when Payton woke up she crawled into my bed but instead of cuddling with me, she snuggled up to her brother. It melts my heart seeing how caring and loving they are with each other and I just couldn't pass up capturing this adorable moment. They truly adore each other and get mad at anyone who hurts their brothers/sisters feelings. I hope this bond will stay this strong as they grow.

As tradition has it, we rake all the leaves in our front yard to surround the Walnut tree. Once all the leaves are piled, the kids get to jump out of the tree and disappear in the leaves. Payton was a little hesitant at first, so she wanted mom and dad to throw her in the pile. I love this picture, too bad you can't see the huge grin on her face or hear the little girl squeal. After this there was no holding her back. We propped a ladder on the back side of the tree so they could get up all by themselves.

Here is a short clip of the kids jumping out. Listen to little miss attitude as she tells her brother off. Oh boy are we in trouble with that one.

Happy Haunting

So, I couldn't talk the kids into matching costumes this year, grrr, I really wanted to be pirates. Brody of course was none other than The Incredible Hulk. Painted nails, painted toe nails, green hair and a loud growl. He loved it and was so happy that he could be mean all night and not get into trouble.Payton wanted to be a Fairy, although she wanted to wrestle with her brother all night. The idea of dressing up seemed to be a lot cooler than the actual dressing up and walking in heels. Guess she is a lot like her mom, dresses are pretty but suck to wear.I was able to talk Curtis into wearing matching costumes. If you can't tell, I am a Black Widow and Curtis is the Fly that I am going to devour. We had a lot of fun making our costumes. I am so glad I have a husband that is willing to appease my crazy notions. Happy Haunting.

AGING QUICKLY...PLEASE HELP

So it was my birthday almost a month ago, and yes I feel older. Those stupid wrinkles around my eyes are reminding me that I am becoming an old woman.

Curtis surprised me with a night out. He took me to dinner at Tuscanos in Salt Lake and mmmmmmmm...it was so yummy. It is the Brazilian version of Rodizio Grill. Then he took me to a piano bar, The Tavernacle. He got a bunch of my friends and family to come, Rob even showed up. I was really nervous when they started having people with birthdays come up and dance on the two Grand pianos. I was dying, how could they abuse and scratch a beautiful piano. But, nobody else seemeed to mind. When they finally called me up I wasn't sure about the whole dancing thing. The whole time I was up there I felt like I was hardly moving, but apparently I was dancing more than I thought. Hope hyou get a good laugh at my silliness. It was a great night. THANKS LOVE.

2008 Fall Competition

So, prancing around naked seems to be my hobby of choice. Fall competition was last weekend and yes I am late on my blogging.

This competition was so much better than spring. All the girls were so nice and closer to my body type which made it easier to relax. I have lost about 10 pounds since the last competition and have put on a little more muscle mass.

Thank you to everyone who came to support me, it means alot and is so exciting to walk on stage and hear people yelling for you. I didn't place this time which is ok, I am another step closer. It just helps me to keep working at it. Thanks to my family for putting up with my weird diet and training schedule. The kids seem to like watching. The first thing Brody said to me was "Mom, I want to go on stage and be strong". I love that they want to be healthy and strong.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

So, Monday was Payton's first day of Preschool. Not that she needs to go education wise. I came to the conclusion that Payton needed some socialization when she tries to wrestle every little girl that she comes into contact with. I'm not quite sure where she gets this from, but it sure isn't making her a lot of female friends although the boys like to play wrestle with her.

Any whoo.... Monday was her first day. I admit I was a little worried that she might start crying and hold onto me whilst making a scene, so I tried to prepare her by encouraging her to be a big girl and not be shy and that she could do this.

So this is how it went.....Pull up to the school and I open the car door for her and hold out my hand to help her out of the truck. She says "No Mom, I'm a big girl and you don't need to hold my hand, I can do it". I smile thinking, ok, this might not be as hard as I think. She marches right past me says "Hi Teacher Lisa" to her teacher and walks straight into the classroom and starts talking to all the kids. I wave and say "Goodbye Payton, I Love You".
She doesn't even turn around, just keeps chatting away. I grudgingly walk back to the truck and pull away and start crying..... ok, so I sobbed like a little baby who got their candy taken away, so what, you just wait till your baby starts really growing up and tell me your heart doesn't get ripped out of your chest. It was so hard watching my little girl grow up and be so dang independent. Guess that pep talk should have been for me 'cause I sure felt like crying and holding onto her leg so she wouldn't leave me. Needless to say I spent the next two hours sitting on my couch in a stupor, not sure what to do with my free time without a shadow telling me what to do or how it should be done.

I love her so much and sure do miss when she is gone, although it is only 2 days a week. She has such a strong spirit and sure does fill any room she enters. Oh the trouble we will be in when boys get involved. I think I will start collecting guns now. Anyone with GPS equipment and spy gear can donate at anytime 'cause I'm sure I will be in need of all things soon. Don't bother with chastity belts because the girl can wiggle out of anything, but Electronic bracelets would be wonderful.

Sweet Lagoon!!

So, went to Lagoon a couple of weeks ago (yes, I know I'm behind). Payton is finally tall enough to ride some of the bigger rides. Brody wanted to ride the Pirate Ship, Payton wasn't so sure but decided to try it. This was the first sway back and forth, she wasn't quite sure what to think. It was really hard not to laugh but I felt bad for the sheer terror she displayed. She made sure we knew that she did NOT want to go on that ride again. I think that's the first time I have seen her truly scared of something.
Brody was in Heaven. He loved it and joined in with everyone else, throwing his hands in the air and screaming "WOOOO HOOOOO" as loud as he could. So cute, my little adrenaline junky. Curtis and I left after a couple of hours to go to the John Edwards show (no not the politician, the medium, dorks). My mom came down and spent a couple of hours at Lagoon with the kids while we were gone before she took them for the night. Of course, she just had to fill them up with suger but I guess it's ok since she's the one that had to deal with the aftermath. So cute, I love how they share and are always concerned that there is enough for the other.

Payton's 3rd Birthday

Oh how the years fly by. My little "angel" is another year older. She is growing up so fast, literally, 6 inches and only 3lbs since last year. Needless to say she is super tall and super skinny. We of course had our swim party again this year. She loves to play in the water and doesn't want to do anything else. My mom and brother Jak showed up, lots of friends and other family....maybe one year we will get the Jensen's to come out.

She gots lots of crayons, paints, and stuff to draw on everything. She is so into dressing up and dancing around, so we got her lots of little dresses, hats, scarfs and other things. She was so excited to have dresses to twirl in.

Everyone says that she looks like my Grandma and this picture proves it. Doesn't she look like a little old lady in the Red Hat Club? So cute.

She wanted a princess cake but she isn't really prissy or girly so I racked my brain to try and come up with something unique that fits her personality, so here it is. If you can't tell it's a dirt mound with all kinds of bugs and snakes. Payton loved it, the first thing she said was "Mom, look, there's a little girl like me trying to eat a snake like I do". I am so glad she liked it and was happy she could finally eat a worm(gummy, of course).

We got Brody the Black Spiderman (Venom) costume and the kids couldn't wait to fight each other, it's hilarious till Payton gets a right jab, the video cuts off before you get to see her clock him back.

After moving the masks so that the could actually so we didn't have anymore mean jabs but watch what Payton does at the end, it's pretty funny.

Fun in the Sun--St George 2008

Every year the Jensen family caravans down to St George. We decied not to hike this year. We just wanted to relax and get some sun. Not as many pictures this year, we were too busy having fun. Payton loves swimming and never wanted to leave, she got quite a nice tan also.
Brody was a little fish. He loved wearing this suit so that he could swim all by himself with the big kids. He couldn't get enough of jumping in the water.
For those of you who were there you will laugh at this funny photo of Angie and Gavin "cuttin' it up". We had a great time with everyone staying up late playing games.
The kids fell asleep on the way home and we were bored and wanted to watch a movie. We strapped one of the screens to the steering wheel so that Curtis could watch too. I know...we are dorks.

On the way home we stopped at the Ancient Life Museum in Lehi with Jill and her family. This is Brody in the middle with Jace on the left and Jared on the right. I'm so glad he got some good bonding time with his cousins.
A shark made it inland and decided that our family looked like we were edible, luckily I have kung-foo grip and showed that shark what was up.
Oh the joys of coming home from vacation. As we pulled in the driveway we saw something that looked like a skunk headed for the backyard towards the dogs, it was actually a PORCUPINE (check out the claws on this thing.) It turned around and looked at us and decided to take a rest on the side of our house. We tried calling Animal Control and Wildlife Services but neither would come help us. As we were trying to get pictures it would turn around and start bristling its spikes, SCARY!!!! So, Curtis went around the house to put the dogs in the kennel and found our back yard flooded from a broken sprinkler pipe the dogs got to. Then as he went to go inside, our front door was unlocked and open. He heard something in Brody's room and thought we had a burgler in the house. After an extensive search, found nothing, and our night slowly wound down. Luckily the porcupine was gone the next morning or someone would have gotten an earful.
